How to Create a Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Office and home equipment and vehicles are considered as our greatest investments. And as humane as it is, they get worn out naturally, over time. Some of these include a machine, an air conditioner, a computer, and a generator. The preventive maintenance of these must follow a pre-arranged simple schedule. To help you create your own preventive maintenance schedule, here are steps:

1. Choose a Program

Upon making your sample schedule, there are ideal programs to help you out. These are Microsoft Word, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and Apple Pages. But the most ideal would be the spreadsheet-based programs, which are Excel and Sheets.  

2. Observe FIFO (First In, First Out) 

You have had clients calling for preventive maintenance of their equipment and the first thing that you should prioritize are the ones that called first. Observe FIFO, or the First In, First Out policy, to avoid future disputes with your clients. Don't forget to include their contact information in the printable schedule. 

3. Include the Necessary Tools for Each Appointment

One equipment's preventive maintenance tools may be different from the other. Prepare your tools in advance, so when the day of the appointment comes, you will save time. Keep a separate list of tools that you need but put it close to the maintenance schedule. 

4. Set a Reasonable Time for Each Appointment

As a person who is adept in preventive maintenance, you are used to predicting how long it will take the preventive maintenance to finish. But, this is not always the case because there might be unforeseen circumstances that may prolong the appointment. Set an allowance of at least 30 minutes for each appointment. 

Don't contain yourself in a ridiculously short time, and don't consume too much time either. 

5. Update Now and Then

There will be changes in your blank schedule eventually; don't forget to update it regularly to ensure that you are right on track. On the day before the appointment, call your client to confirm their schedule.
