How to Make Hotel Flowcharts in Google Docs
Many businesses today suffer in poor communication and management. Keep in mind that company operation is dependent on two things: the product or service, and the production process. Without management and communication, it’s harder to work effectively. That’s why hotels, malls, and other establishments need to follow an organized flow of their activities and work because this affects the business and customer relations.
If you like traveling, choosing the right accommodation always comes first. But behind your room bookings is a team that plans to provide the best service you’ll need. As the demand is growing, hotel businesses are prone to internal problems. To avoid this, a step by step workflow process is necessary.
To create a Hotel Flowchart in Google Docs, below are the steps that you can follow.
1. Plan the Workflow
It always starts by obtaining a solid plan. Start by creating a list of the fundamental areas of your hotel services, both internal and external. Determine different managing individuals in each area, such as the front desk, cleaners, and many more. To do this effectively, work with a team. You can consult your team individually, or ask them to gather around. It’s always important to be open with your team’s decisions and suggestions for the growth of your business.
2. Map It Out
After determining a goal as a team, you can start creating a diagram. Open your Google Docs, and prepare a new blank document. You can choose to use a landscape or portrait layout. But if you have a more complicated list, then select landscape. Start creating your diagram using a rounded rectangle shape. Don’t forget to flow the data starting from the top to the bottom, if using portrait and left to right if landscape.
3. Input the Steps
It’s important to input the steps into every shape first before connecting them to avoid confusion. In this way, you can interchange them freely, or add a new shape if needed. Once you’re ready, start writing the steps. Remember that it’s one step for every shape. Make sure to keep each step short, but readable. Indicate the emergency plan, housekeeping duties, reservations, etc. Remember that using the right font style matters in creating a diagram and charts. You can use Helvetica or Arial for a simple chart.
4. Connect the Steps
Add arrows or lines that connect related processes to show direction. Don’t forget to add decision points. You can label every point with a “yes” or a “no” to determine the next step, depending on your decision. Place the decision points above the arrows, in between two shapes.
5. Recheck and Release
Rechecking the whole process is vital. When finish, always consider asking everyone involve in the process to review the flowchart. Check to see the consistency of the designs and the relevance of the information. Always make sure to create a basic chart that’s highly informative. So, when done, print as much copies as needed.
