How to Make Summer Flyers in Microsoft Publisher
Do you have an upcoming urban house party? What about a new beach gym or youth art camp? Whatever your summertime project may be, you need some good advertising to get people buzzing about it.
But, maybe you’re wondering why even bother with printed flyers in our age of online and digital alternatives. Well, as stated in an article from Chron (an online business resource), print media advertising is effective at reaching broader audiences. Plus, in particular, flyers are relatively cheap and easy to prepare.
Microsoft Publisher is an excellent choice for designing your summer flyer. And we’ve got a handful of tips (below) on how to get the most out of the application!
1. Consider Your Summer Flyer’s Size
The very first thing to think about is how big you want your flyers. There’s a range of different standard options, which goes from 5.8 x 4.1 inches to 8.5 x 11 inches. To help you decide, consider the distribution location and your budget.
After opening a blank document or template in MS Publisher, set the print size through the Page Design tab. In this tab, go to Page Setup > Size and pick your desired option.
2. Prepare Thematic Imagery for Your Summer Flyer’s Look
One of the main aspects that makes a flyer effective is its visual appeal (which uses artwork, photography, etc.). With a well-designed flyer, you’re more likely to get someone interested in your summer event or offer. However, it’s not just about the quality of the render, but also how it matches your promotion.
For example, if you’re holding a sale for fun summer clothing in both retro and modern styles, then you’ll want photos that show those clothes off.
3. Arrange the Pictures in Your Summer Flyer
Incorporate some strategic and creative planning when using your visual resources. Look through all your photos and artwork—determine the background, the suitable amount, the layout, and so on.
Add your pictures by going to Insert > Pictures and select the file from your folder. Click-drag the image itself for repositioning and click-drag the nodes on its sides for resizing.
4. Use Clever Writing in Your Summer Flyer
Of course, visuals are only part of a flyer’s appeal. To really get people into your promotions, you need a dash of creative dialogue. For starters, use an eye-catching header at the top, something like “Beautiful Sunset Beach Party” or “John Doe Hotel - Tropical Views Galore.”
To add your written content, you’ll need a few text boxes. Add a text box by opening the Insert ribbon and then select the Draw Text Box option. Next, click-drag across the desired area to place the text box and determine its size. And, while the text box is selected, use the Format ribbon to customize it.
